Your Closet Needs a Selfie
There are closets out there full of clothes that are jumbled, scattered, mismatched, and stained. There are clothes in those closets that are piled, rolled into balls, draped, thrown, tossed, and abandoned. There are hangers in those closets that are bare, upside down, backward, and broken. Are you reading these words and nodding? Do not despair.
If your closet is beyond words, I have a solution. Take a photo of your closet and send it to me! I can offer immediate feedback on what, where, when and how we will tackle the seemingly-abysmal closet of yours.
This month I am offering a “closet challenge.” It is unique to each participant. It can be as simple as sending me a photo with the caption reading “Help!” Or, you can send me a photo of your most challenging piece (i.e. how to make your work uniform more flattering.) Or, you can just send me a photo of your biggest wardrobe frustration (i.e. how to cope with your copious collection of scarves.)
I will do a free consult, based on the photo you send me. I will suggest ideas on how you can improve that diamond in the rough. I will help you understand the art of curating a wearable fashion piece out of a challenge.

One hour. We could all confess to easily losing an hour watching Marie Kondo on Netflix, being on Instagram, tweeting, posting, or texting. We could easily gain an hour by meditating, observing, or breathing. What if you spent one hour changing how the world sees you? No magic wands or genie lamps required to achieve this goal. All it takes is one phone call to schedule a consultation appointment with me. What is there for you to gain? Seven outfits, each one a unique expression of your authentic self. What is there to lose? Clothing that no longer suits you.
My initial 30-minute consultation is free. Those tweets, posts, texts can wait! The time to express your confident, true self is now! By expressing yourself through your wardrobe you create a better, more effective, lasting presence. After the Closet Refresh appointment, you will have a style versus a random ownership of items.
If you want to look and feel better, ask yourself what holds you back from making that step forward. Are you one of those clients that feels frustration when you open your closet door? Do you feel stressed about what to wear to weddings, networking meetings, funerals, or job interviews? You are not alone. I have guided women to recreate wardrobes that make them succeed at each life transition.
Some of my clients have given up on style. They dismiss it, as if it’s something that only occurred in their 20’s. Think again! Style can be harnessed and showcased at any age. Let me help you!
Hiring an expert is a fast way to learn about what is outdated in your closet, what to keep and what to give up, how to shop your own closet and how to own your personal style. I will help you remove blinders about your own clothes. It’s time to see the beautiful things in your closet with a fresh view. One phone call. One hour. Seven new outfits. Remember, it’s a new year and it’s time to show the world the new you!
Same clothes, Fresh perspective
We are on the cusp of winter. Those sweaters and scarves are already starting to feel dull and drab. The temptation to splurge on a new item and matching boots is palpable. However, those 2018 Christmas gift expenses limit your new year personal spending budget. Does this conundrum sound familiar? Call me! It is time for a Closet Refresh! Here’s how the process works…
Step 1: Envision
We are going to create a wardrobe that matches the true you! In order to do this, I need to get to know you. Before I come to your home, I will assign you a quick, fun homework assignment. I will ask you to create a vision board depicting a dream wardrobe of your choice. This could be magazine cut-outs pasted on construction paper, or, it could be images found online through Pinterest and other apps or websites. While you are creating your vision board, it is important to think about who you are and how you want to express yourself. We will review your vision board together, so I have a clear understanding of your authentic self. My goal from this point forward will be to help you engage your authentic self through your wardrobe.
Step 2: Make Way for the Rolling Rack!
Now we are ready to create your unique style! I will bring my portable rolling rack to assist us in categorizing your wardrobe. We will go through the contents and decide which items stay and which items go. I will sort through your outerwear, footwear, and accessories, too. In the end, you will have items to donate, items to sell, items to clean/repair, and items to keep. You might have some immediate ideas of things you would like to purge. Feel free to start this process before I arrive. If this step sounds overwhelming, do not worry — we can do it together. The goal of this step is to create your style. I will never force you to get rid of something or to keep something. If an item is sentimental but outdated, I can give you tips and tricks on enlivening well-worn favorites.
Step 3: Reveal Your Hidden Treasures
We will build seven new looks, based on the items you decide to keep. This process is fun and surprising! We will purge unwanted items and repurpose those items you decide to keep. Each client’s closet is full of hidden treasures!
Step 4: Create a Focused Shopping List
We will create a shopping list. The list will consist of items you want and also consist of “gaps” in your wardrobe. On your next shopping trip, this list will help you to stay laser-focused and stop impulse purchasing. By this step in the process, you will feel confident with your new look. The days of wondering “what should I wear?” are over!
Step 5: Charge your Cell Phone
I will have you try on these new outfits. I will take photos of you in your new outfits so you can recreate them later. These photos will become part of your personal “Look Book.” Next time you go shopping, you can refer to the Look Book to help you stay focused. You are now ready to wear those seven capsule outfits! At this step, I will ask you to write in a journal about your experience. The Look Book will help us to tweak your outfits moving forward.

Self-care comes in many forms. For some, it is a pedicure and a personal day off from work. For others, it is eating cheesecake while watching a reality TV show.
It is fascinating to hear the range of definitions when I ask my clients to describe their own form of self-care. However, there is one common thread between my clients. Each of them knows that mastering one’s closet is a powerful form of self-care.
Many of the clients I service view their closet like a black hole, an abyss they stare into at the start of each day or before major evening events. There is an unexpected gain from working with a stylist— you will end up saving time and money simply by reconfiguring your wardrobe.
Life is too short to be stressed about fashion! I can assure you, it feels great to have a collection of comfortable clothing that fits well and looks terrific. After engaging my services, you will end up with a rack of clothes organized into outfits that both flatter your body and skin tone, while reflecting your individual style.
As a wardrobe stylist, I have one goal in mind. I want each client to feel de-stressed and well-dressed, as a result of my wardrobe intervention. The first step toward this goal is to contact me for a 30 minute free consultation.
The new year is upon us along with our annual ritual of making resolutions. Now is the time to choose self-care as a way to look and feel great! Happy 2019!
Eileen Fisher is an artisanal product — a crossroads of fabric, sustainability, ethics, and fashion. I am proud to have that company on my resume. For 15 years, I worked as a stylist for Eileen Fisher.
Each year, we would showcase four seasons of clothing. Each of those career building 60 seasons included extensive fit and wardrobing training. I worked with women of all ages, sizes, shapes, and backgrounds. We worked with many nuances including design, color and proportions for all types of body challenges.
Confiding in a stylist can feel vulnerable. Clothing can be used as a method of hiding. If someone is uncomfortable with their body image, wearing something “good enough” can be a quick fix.
While I’m not here to boast or earn accolades, the purpose of sharing my Eileen Fisher career with my readers is to earn their trust. I have helped countless women embrace their body challenges. By trusting in my expertise, we can find ways to harness fashion, beauty, and confidence without changing your body.
My years at Eileen Fisher were fun and challenging. However, working as an independent stylist allows me to harness my own authentic self — helping women through fashion.
Together we can overcome whatever body challenges you think are preventing you from being a fashionable woman. Contact me to have a 30 minute free chat over tea, coffee or hot cocoa.
Clients consistently report that “getting ready for work” is the most stressful part of their day. That stress can manifest in different ways for each person.
For some, waking up early is a challenge, especially during the dark winter months. The snooze button allows for five more minutes of luxurious sleep. After hitting the snooze button a few times, you suddenly realize it is late. The race is on!
After a quick rinse in the shower, you stare blankly into your closet. You rifle through blouses, dresses, and sweaters. Nothing feels right. One blouse is too wrinkled, so you toss it onto the floor. The rayon blouse feels too thin and your office is cold. You toss it onto the floor. The dress is perfect but you need to wear tights to stay warm as you walk to the train station. Tights make you feel like a school girl. You toss the dress onto the floor. Now you are late! You get dressed hurriedly.
You arrive at work and head to your first meeting. In the conference room, you try to focus on the presentation. Your eyes drift to the women who are, seemingly, perfectly dressed. Scarves and blazers and heels all look elegant. You feel self-conscious. The khakis and cardigan you are wearing feel boring, they don’t feel like you. Now you feel inferior. Suddenly, the eyes in the room shift and it is now your turn to present data findings to the group.
What you wear matters!
The clothes, shoes, and accessories all speak to who you really are — also known as, your authentic self. Honing in on your authentic self will help you feel genuine, confident, and at ease. You will start to enjoy conversing with others, instead of comparing yourself to them. Living as your authentic self is noticeable from the moment you walk into a room. People are not just looking at your clothes. People are looking at You.
My entire practice is about getting you to realize and express your authentic self through my holistic wardrobe consulting. Book your session for December now.
Join me Wednesday, November 7, at 7 p.m., for cocktails, nibbles, mingling, and fun, at River and Roads, 57 Eastern Ave., Essex. Contact me to RSVP.

What’s even better than peanut butter and chocolate? Goddess energy and wardrobe restyling! They may seem like unlikely co-activities, but here’s the thing:
The practice of the divine feminine energy is a form of radical self-care. It promotes an alignment of mind and body to engender an authentic state of balance and harmony. Awareness of archetype and time carved out from our busy lives are gifts we can give ourselves.
And wardrobe restyling? Curating your closet is also a powerful form of self-care. Have you ever opened your refrigerator door and stood there, waiting for the perfect combination of foods to magically appear and sate your midnight munchies? I’ve spent a lot of time with women who find themselves doing the same thing when they open their closets at the beginning of a new day, or hours before an evening event. Wouldn’t it be great to have a collection of comfortable clothing that fits well and looks terrific? A rack of clothes organized into outfits that both flatter your body and skin tone, and reflect your individual style? What would you do with all that extra time you’d save? How would it feel to escape the daily stress of it all?
I invite you to find out!
Come to this unique workshop designed to teach you how to discover your personal style and find your inner Goddess and extend that by forging a new positive relationship with your wardrobe! What does “self-care” mean to you, and do you feel like you’re due—or overdue—for some? Self care encompasses a wide range of practices, and I’m delighted to invite you to “Yoga Meets Style,” a unique workshop that blends gentle, relaxing Yoga and Reiki practices with a Vision Board exercise on wardrobe styling. We’ll use Pinterest to create a Vision Board to help you envision what an easier, more curated collection of clothing would look and feel like. You’ll leave feeling more confident about your look and gain a tangible way to start taming your wardrobe so that it causes you less stress and more comfort.
Self-care is about creating a sacred space for yourself where you can be YOU and take tender care of your whole self. It is the quiet, healing space that brings the mind and body together in peaceful harmony. Practices like Reiki, Yoga and Meditation, as taught by my friend and workshop co-hostess Katherine Oregel at The Healing Center in Beverly, MA, can help our minds and bodies work together to find the calm and put us in the right state of mind to tackle the “style” aspect of self care.
How is your wardrobe style a part of self-care? My main goal has always been to bring out the joy, the fun, and the creativity in each of my clients. I want each client’s style to reflect her authentic personality and style. Our clothing and our style can tell a story, and I want my clients to rock their stories!
This is where self-care comes into play. It is difficult to find the joy and the fun inside ourselves if we are consumed by outside or internal stressors. Self-care is about creating a safe space within yourself where you can feel secure in your body, your age, size, skin color, and budget. A place where you can feel beautiful and confident in your clothes and in your authentic style!
My goal is to create a space where we can have a better relationship with our wardrobes. At the workshop, through Vision Board exercises with Pinterest, we will change the way we think about our clothes, our style and our wardrobe. The workshop will start with Reiki and Yoga practices led by Katherine to help each of us find that sacred, quiet, loving space so that together we can reach down deep to find our unique creative self, and visit a place where we can turn vision boards into reality and heal and calm our busy minds.
Helping my clients find their style while practicing self-care brings me tremendous joy. I hope you will join us for the “Yoga Meets Style” workshop at The Healing Center in Beverly, MA, on Saturday morning, September 15. Click here to sign up or learn more.
